ok, help if you can..

I have massive sync problems, doesnt matter which package i use the audio desync's over time. is there any way to get the exact frame rate of the dvd, or vob's? at least if i knew that i could rule out a frame rate problem... doesnt matter 23.976 or 29.whatever. audio is always screwed... no problems with video quality, so i should count my blessings!

Thanks!

You don't say what tools you're using, or what format your end result is in. For example, there would be different responses to your question if you were creating .avi files for pc-playback, burning SVCD CDs for playback on a standalone player, or burning DVDs for the same purpose.

Within each of those 3 major categories, there are different tools, and different technologies. There are other formats of encoding and other tools for them, as well.

Let the forum know what you're trying to accomplish, and you'll probably get some good advice.

Oh, here's the answer to your basic question, on vob framerates: NTSC = 29.97fps, PAL=25fps. See? Not enough information to help you, is it? The information is in both the .ifo file and the mpeg2 stream.

ok, i'm ripping using Divx 5.0.1 codec, single pass... just to avi, i just want pc playback...

ive tried XingMpeg, Rip It All, Easy Divx, and DVDx...

actually all work fine, its just my avi is ALWAYS out of sync. thats why i wanted to check the vob frame rate just so i can rule that out... i just think its the frame rate becuase of the desync over time thing... i use a syncronizer to sync the beginning of the file, but the end is still screwed...

i'm doing AI by the way...

Try the Gordian Knot method - It is actually quite quick and easy once you get used to it:)
