What filters are recommended when encoding to DivX 3.11a ?

I have been using Gordian Knot for a little while now, and I always see pixilation in my rips.

I wanted to know how i can reduce this pixilation and improve my rips ?

Hi-

Ordinarily, for clean source material, you shouldn't need to apply filters, or maybe just the light TemporalSmoother(2,1) from the GKnot generated .avs. Are you trying to put too long a movie at too high a resolution onto 1 CD? Have you been running the compressibility test before making your final choice as to file size and resolution? What kind of movies are we talking about here-action packed Martial Arts movies-Anime-Hollywood Blockbusters?

Yes give us more info about your encode and we (err I mean manono) can help you out.

Like Bitrate, Resolution, Important Nandub Settings ( Gauge and DRF Values).

Important to note: if you "see" noise in the source in Nandub (just activate the view input tab) then you may apply filters. But as manono said don't use them if there is no "visible noise" in the source (DVD). Therefore, your encoding parameters may be a little off.

Also, for general knowledge, a lot of people use the temporal smoother filter at a setting of (3). That means strength of 3 and radius of 3, [b]before[b] resizing. That seems to help compression without visible blurring to the picture. Also try to resize more if the bitrate is not high (use a bicubic setting of neutral in Gknot, unless you're encoding anime, which may need a bilinear).
