ahhh, the answer to ur question is yes.

When I first got ADSL I got an Alcatel router which is reffered to as a frog (its green and its made by a french company). Unfortuatly, it's the standard router shipped in places and its crap.

I've been through 2 of them, and many people have problems with theirs as well. Thats why it's always better to buy ur own router ;)

Hehe it's not a frog, it's a "raie" (I don't know the name in french...) and it's made by Alcatel (the name is Speed Touch)!!
I got this one:

I didn't know you had the same one in UK :p

What does it mean "support for bframes"? I have been using bframes under virtual dub since divx 5 came out. Does that mean the movies I have been doing dont really use bframes?

I just finished encoding a batch of TV shows off a DVD with VDub 1.4.9 and DivX 5.01 with B-frames turned on, and of course I deleted the VOBs, when I saw the cryptic post about VDub 1.4.10 "fixing" the B-frame issue. I was like "What? I just checked the AVIs and they look fine!" - then I checked them again and compared them to some earlier episodes I'd encoded with DivX 5.0 and all the same settings. Oops! Yeah there is definately some kind of problem. One way to see it is to play the DivX 5.01 + B-frame encoded video with WMP and toggle "full-screen" on and off while its playing: you will see the video freeze for a second while the audio keeps on playing. ALL the videos I encoded with VDub 1.4.9 and DivX 5.01 do this, but NONE of the videos I encoded with VDub 1.4.9 and DivX 5.0 have the problem. Another symptom seems to be that seeking within the video is even laggier than usual. Am I imagining all this? Dammit, why didn't anybody say anything about this earlier - now I gotta wait for "2-for-1 Tuesday" at Casa Video cuz I'm too cheap to pay full price to rent the same DVD twice :D

I just encoded a few things with VDub 1.4.9 + DivX 5.01 the other night. Though I've checked them and don't recall seeing the symptoms described above, I just check again after reading your post. I don't have the problem you described.

I do know that when I playback DivX 5 (either 5.0 or 5.01) material the video will occasionally freeze, similar to what you've described. However, I'm pretty sure that in my case it's simply because my processor isn't fast enough: closing all other processes when I playback movies helps. Also, with B-frames + QPel encoded movies, video would freeze every so often even without maximizing the window. Since QPel is known to be processor intensive during playback, the behavior fits my theory.
