After many months of continuous complaints about "The Playa" and the "DivX Player" ... with the 5.01 release of DivX this week, it was announced that the DivX Player 2.0 Alpha 3 supports Variable Bit Rate MP3 audio.
Perhaps.
Buried in the "known issues" web page for this player, I found: The application includes only partial support for files that contain variable bitrate MP3 (MPEG-1 Layer 3) audio.
I don't know what partial support means.
Do you?
To me, it means they might have finally gotten it to work, but they'll continue to ignore e-mail and forum questions when problems crop up, as they did before this announcment.
So, I'll continue to use WMP or players from third parties, none of whom seem to have difficulty.
I wonder when "Alpha" will finally become "Beta" ...
