View Full Version : purple lines were a decoding problem!

I encoded a movie at 512x276 and, using d5.01, it doesnt expose the purple crap on the bottom anymore - so it was really a decoding problem (which I am very happy about =) )

Any report on how the new psy settings are coming along and whether Q-pel encodings play fine for everybody now?

I won't use QPel anyway since it consumes more bitrate.

I tested on a 320x240 file of one minute and I got with quality based 100%:
24MB without any MPEG4 Tools
18,5MB with GMC & B-Encoding
18,9MB with all MPEG4 Tools

So QPel is shit
I tested the light PSY setting, it hasn't any effect on size, so I won't use it.

ever tried to divide 276 by 16? you won't get an integer number.. despite imporvements in this area there's a reason why we have very restrictive settings for resolutions.. they do work a lot better than using x8 or even x4 resolutions.

uh my whole point WAS that it now plays fine even though it wasn't MOD16 - I only used that res because D5 was ADVERTISED to be able to do vertical MOD2 encodings - I may have been a lil blue-eyed in that department.
