Hi,

I am building a web site for a non-profit group and was looking to put up some videos in XVID video & OGG audio.

Do I just need to create an autoinstaller for the two .ax files or do I need to have viewers download the full XVID & OGG packages?

Thx

For the least ammount of problems it would be recommended that users download both archives in full. If I am not mistaken though it should be possible to just install the xvid.ax to facilitate xvid playback. When it comes to Tobias's OGG filters I am not so sure and feal it might be best for him to comment on this a bit.

Keep in mind that there are probably some licensing issues related to this...
I believe you need to acquire a license for mpeg4 use before you are actually 'allowed' to produce mpeg4 video (what xvid outputs) and especially before putting them on a website. I'm sure someone else can clarify or extend on this though.

If it is for commercial uses then yes. There is most definatly licensing in terms of MPEG4. But we are talking about a not for profit group. Not a verry apealing target.

A not-for-profit organisation is not necessarily whiter than white!

If my business turns over $1 million per year, but my salary is $1 million, then there is no profit. Many organisations a similar trick to appear righteous.

Don't worry lar1r, I'm not accusing you of anything!! :-)

i maybe mistaken but i think that
xvid needs xvid.ax & xvid .dll
ogg vorbis needs ogg.dll vorbis.dll oggds.dll and probably msvcrt70.dll
but off course use original installers because they aren't big

Yeah for best results the full installs are always recommended. ;)
