Using 1.86 for the whole process?

With version 1.86 you can use DVD2AVI for the whole encoding process......can't you?

I am encoding an SVCD to divx so I load in the mpeg2 files, choose force film 23.976, clip, resize, and save as AVI 2-pass.

Is this ok or should virtualdub still be used rather than dvd2avi for encoding?

No need for VDub. I encoded lot of movie with DVD2AVI 1.82. Audio encoded separately with Lame or OGG.
Currently download V 1.86. Shall see it...

MP3&OGG would offer both one-pass normalization & the old two-pass normalization prcoesses.
MP2&WAV would only offer two-pass normalizaion.

Well, I tried using 1.86 for the whole process and the video had little blocks on it at the beginning but it was ok apart from that.

So, we'll be able to use just dvd2avi soon :):)

There reallly isn;t much of a process to document in a guide, if you already knwo hwo to sue dvd2avi to frameserve, you just go to file save avi enstead of file save project, nothing before changes nand the divx settings are identicle to other encoding methods.

I still use nandub to mux the audio and video streams, neither nic's version nor the offical 1.86 version can mux as well as nandub can if they even offer muxing, i don't belive nics does.

i already use DVD2AVI 1.76 with Gordianknot, so after upgrading to DVD2AVI 1.86 i won't use Virtualdub to Encode right?, but what about the Resolution/cropping process in Gordianknot?
I'll be able to fully replace Gordian (still useful as bitrate calc) and Virtualdub? I encode audio extracting the AC3 track and processing it with HeadAC3he 0.23.

Mine cant mux, I will eventually hard code it in, but until then im just going to get it too automatically mux with Nandub if requested by the user.

My version does Aspect Ratio in exactly the same way as GKnot so hopefully you'll like it once I release it.

Nope, its going to take a little while, I want as few bugs as possible, & I want people to like it alot. I dont want people trying an unfinished product, it not working perfectly first time, then them calling it crap. :)

So ill take a bit of time, but it should be good. :)

Hm, I'd really like to recommend it to a 'newbie' friend of mine. It would be ideal if just the muxing was working correctly (I'm waiting for Nic coupling it with Nandub, here) and, more importantly, if it supportet the --alt-presets. Otherwise just splendid! Good work!

It does support the alt-presets...because it supports whatever BeSweet does :)

Theres alot of work to do, it would only take a day to do it though....if only I had a day free :(

It does? Maybe it's because I've never used DVD2AVI for audio, but I found I couldn't enter a decent command line in the audio-config (official 1.86). What am I missing? [EDIT:] Oh, you were probably talking about your upcoming version - I look forward to it!

I would like to find some help here... I have downgraded divx 5.01pro to 4.12 again, because I couldn't do the 2nd pass with any of the dvd2avi. Everytime I try, dvd2avi just disapears... can anyone help me? How is it possible to work with the 2nd pass mode in dvd2avi with the new codec? even if it is 5.0 normal.

The same exact way oyou do the first pass.....
go back to save avi, go back to divx properties andjust select w pass - second pass enstead of 1st
thats it...if dvd2avi disapears...somthign else is going on and i can't diaganose it without more specific info from you.

I dunno why... but sometimes 1.86 will give a frame rate of 23.975 when I specify 23.976...

When you have this kind of pb, always try with the official 1.76 release.
If the problem is the same then there is real pb, otherwise it's just a bug of an unofficial release so feel free to contact this author.

In addition the 1.86 doesn't add anything to the d2v creation so 1.76 will work better if you use mpeg2dec or vfapi.

hum dvd2avi is not better than dvd2avi.
bad bad rip sound like vob to wave or vob to mp3 big time suck to much static in there. totally unacceptional.
but one thing better than dvd2avi 1.76 is cropping section.it allow you preview it, so that kick ass. that why i still stay with 1.86 version
