Chapter based ripping use DVDDecrypter ?

not the whole DVD use DVD-Decrypter ?

LIGHTNING UK or any one....can you outline some steps in ripping individual chapters?

I didn't find any guide talking about it nor did the bulletin have an exact answer to it. It will be great if someone can shed some light on the subject for me.

I'm using DVD Decrpter 3.1.4.0 Under Mode, do I select IFO, then uncheck whichever Chapter I do not want? After ripping, one IFO and VOB file are created. I don't know what to do next.....

Ultimately, I what do join Chapters from different DVDs together and make one DVD.

erm you'll probably want to use the stream processing (demux) functions in IFO mode to get a video (M2V) file and the audio.
You should then be able to add each M2V/AC3 file into an authoring program and recreate your dvd.

LIGHTNING UK!, thanks for the quick reply. I tried out several discs, but only one worked. DVD Decrypter returned with a failure message with the rest of the discs at loading.

The message read, "UDF Parsing Failed!" and "UDFFindPartition" returned 0.

I have tried it on two computers, one Samsung drive, the other Pioneer DVR-104. Both computer returned the same error message.

Do you know what caused the problem?

Either these discs dont have a udf file system, or something is seriously wrong with your machine.
I've never had this error myself (and i have way over 200 dvds now).

What does UDF file system mean?

I use 95% of the time DVD decrypter version 3.0.0.17. I barely started using this new version 3.1.4.0 due to its capablility of doing IFOs. I never get this error with the older version. I don't know whether its the new version causing the problem.

oooh...this is sounding interesting!
Could you please use another of my programs - 'sector extractor' to rip LBA 0 - 2000.

Zip the file up that it creates and then mail it to me. (use the address in the 'About' box in DVD Decrypter).
If there is a problem, I'll do my very best to mend it.

P.S Please dont hesitate to ask for help with Sector Extractor. I know its not the easiest of tools to use! I'd really appreciate it if you could help me out by sending that file though. Thanks in advance.

I tried out the software, but like you said....I need some help now....

I went to MODE, selected LBA, entered 0 for start sector and 2000 for length. Then I clicked "Extract". A new window opened for me to name the target file. After I enter a name and hit "Save".....nothing happened.

The status of the software remained at "Ready".

Which step did I do incorrectly?

by the sounds of it, you did everything correctly!

I just did the exact same thing on my pc and it worked ok.
Mode -> LBA
Start LBA = 0
End LBA = 2000
Ensure the correct drive is selcted and that it has a disc in it etc.
Click Extract.
Type 'image.iso' click save.

It should then do its stuff and have created a file called image.iso wherever you told it to.

I'm trying to do the same thing too! But first I need to eliminate some chapters in some movies to back-up to a DVD-R. So after using using the IFO mode (elimintating the chapters I don't really need) I get the diffrent VOBs without the chapters that I eliminated. What do I do next?
