Hi there!
Does anybody know if DirectVobSub will work with ogg-files? Doesn't it need the avi-extension to load? I dont want to add the subtitles permanently to the movie...

when i got it right.. (never testet subs though) subtitles are permanent in ogm, but can be turned off at any time.. so more like in a vob file.. correct me if i am wrong...

In this case you would not need VobSub anymore.
The advantage of VobSub was that it lays the subtitles over the movie during playback (you need additional files for the subtitles), this way you can turn them on and off however you like. But when you can do the same with ogm (turning the subtitles off if you don't like them), thats just perfect.

You may want to have a look at Tobias' site and read about and download the SubtitlerDSF.

No you can't mux Vobsub files into an OGM, only SRT files allowed, but you can play your sub with DVobsub & OGM

That's just what I wanted to know. I like Subrip, but I don't use it, because it looses all style formats like italics...
(Which can be restored with Tobias' tool, thanks to Koepi for the link, but this would be a lot of work...)
But it's a great programm, especially the possibility to edit the subtitles is great.
You can include greetings to your family, your own text, it even offers a new way to learn vocabulary... :)
But I will stick to VobSub, because I always try to alter the movie to the lowest possible extend...
Thanks again!
