Is there an easy way of converting an SVCD disc to XVCD.
My m8 has a SonyDVPS 336 and it does not play SVCD,s.
I checked the VCD help site and it says it can play XVCD's.
He has a couple of old music vids on SVCD which he cannot play.
Can I convert them to a playable XVCD format and if so how?
Cheers

I have converted it with TMPGEnc with settings at
720x576
25fps
CBR 2500kbps
Layer 2 44100Hz
Non compliant VCD
My converted file is now 1/4 the size of original.
How do I know if this is an XVCD that will play in the SONY DVD player ?
Is this an XVCD I have made or am I using the wrong settings.

I found this link that might help you out, http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16404&highlight=svcd+compliant
Well at the looks of it your settings are fine, what you should go check now is what bitrates your Sony will handle when doing XVCD if your dvd player can handle 2.5 bitrates when doing XVCD then you should be fine.

Thanks m8 according to vcd help it does 2500 but someone else says 2600.
Its not my DVD so I cant test it just now.
I suppose I will just have to burn to a cd and take it round to test it.
How do I know if the bitrate is a constant 2500.
Is there a bitrate viewer or something that will tell me.
When I play in PowerDVD4 it says its 1500 ?
