New XP installation and Smartipper goes KO

I had the previous XP installed for many months using a FAT32 filesystem and Smartripper never had any problem. Last saturday i've re-installed a new XP on NTFS filesystem and re-installed/copied software i need (smartripper included). In the previous installation (the old one) i first installed ASPI 4.60 and then udpated them to 4.70 in the new installation i've installed directly 4.70 ASPI drivers. Now in this new environment when i start Smartripper it says:

Aspi- Adapter Available
try to unlock drive
...wait for a while...(i have a Pioneer 105s)
Read DVD Structure
Switch To WinIO
fails to unlock the first vob file.

Is this an ASPI problem, or what else i'm very confused at the moment...hope some1 could help me please.

Sounds like the vob file is locked.
Try opening your DVD software (power DVD, Win DVD) start playing the movie and then Pause the movie. While the movie is in the pause mode then try running smart ripper.

You can try running another dvd that you have had no problem with in the past. this will tell you if something is wrong.

I use 4.60 with xp corp. pro. and have never had any problems. Although I have had the same problem that you are now having.

Try DVD Decrypter if all else fails I use this and like it very much more so than smart ripper you can find it in the downloads section, make sure there are no scratches on the dvd and that it is clean. Also try cleaning your dvd player.

Another tip for ripinp and converting to mpeg, or avi etc.

KEEP HARD DRIVE DEFRAGED. Things will work much smoother and quicker.

It was ASPI 4.70, i've re-installed 4.60 and executed once DVDDecrypter and all went ok. Now both Smartripper and DVDDecrypter works properly.
