View Full Version : Xvid Converting problem

I used the latest Xvid version from Nic and
faced two problems.
I usually cap using a mjpeg codec for compression. When I try to convert the final file with virtual Dub I recognize that the used Datarate is extremly low (15kb/sec. ! My normal setting is 1 pass CBR 900 wich usually results in a bitrate Datarate of ~ 110 kb/s. :confused:
Converting from Divx to xvid or from mpeg1 to xvid works fine though ...

My second problem is that I'm not able to cap directly to xvid. The result looks terrible blocky ! Again Datarate 900
Using Divx looks o.k.

Anyone has a hint or better a solution for me ?

Thanks so much !
Cheers

Latest from nic, I am assuming u are using 3/27/2002

try cap with these settings and see how it works for you.

1000-1035 bitrate
16 delay

Motion Search = 5
quantize type = H263
xvid 4cc
Max I-frame = 30-60-90 ( test out what works best for you )

quantizer: I-frame => 2/3 P-frame => 1/4

Alternative Curve ( turn on )
low aggression
high distant = 170
low distant = 92
strength = 35
(automatic default)

Turn on all your CPU ( forced it ).

I get approximately 128-138 K/s for datarate.
