anyone have any ideas why it does that??
oh and btw how do u get to that page where u set up the post processing settings? (nics DS filter) excuse me for being such a xvid noob... =)
thanks in advance...
I don't have any problems with it
Are you using the latest Nic version? If you don't have the latest version, and have a cpu that doens't support SSE, it could be it.
To access the ds filter properties, when using media player 6.4, you must start the movie, then click on file, and then properties.

It would be interesting to know that if you removed DivX5 from your system, would the filter work ok....
I know some have had this problem.

maybe ill do that... thanks... but can i play my divx5 encoded movies then?
No, if you remove divx5 from your comp, you can't played them.
What media player do you have? Media player 7 and 8 don't have the option to modify the ds filter settings.
You must use 6.4 version, you can find it in \programs\windows media player folder. Or just look for the file mplayer2.exe

Are you sure about this? Neo Neko tested this other night with Nic's Xvid filter and reported it worked fine as long as your Divx5 movie wasn't using something like QuarPel or possible B-Frames.
My DSF wont play DivX FourCC, if you changed the DivX5 AVI's FourCC to XviD then you could play them....otherwise not.

That's what i was meaning. By default, xvid ds filter wouldn't play divx5 avi's. I didn't want to complicate things by changing the FourCC to xvid.
I already tested playing some divx5 avi's (small ones) with xvid ds filter, and i couldn't spot any problems, in spite they were done using b-frames. But i never tested with a full movie.

I had just the same problem few minutes ago, I think the problem is a mix up of the different version or while removing the xvid codec you have to close all programs which uses ds filters, by letting vdub open, xvid was uninstalled correctly according to the uninstaller but I don't think the ds is unregistered so by doing it "The Right way (tm)": reboot, install, reboot, uninstall then install. This worked for me,
just my 2 euro cents

xming is quite correct....My DSF filter (ever since -h's changes) is quite picky about which DLL it is using. So make sure you update both at the same time (best way is straight after a reboot)
