View Full Version : Problem with Ogg sound

Okay, I tried to make an ogm today with XviD+Ogg. I installed the latest version of Tobias' filter (0.9.9.0). Muxing went perfectly fine using the latest version of OggMux. However, when I go to play it, WMP6.4 doesn't recognize the Ogg sound and tries to download an MP3 codec. When I let it download and install the MP3 codec, it still fails to play (no surprise there considering it's Ogg sound, not MP3). So as of now, I have a perfectly good movie, but no sound.

So... Any suggestions?

Why not try another player? Is this Vorbis decoder listed in the properties during playback?

Is the audio device set to Wave Out or Direct Sound? Maybe it's not possible to change this in WiMP, not sure.

That was my first thought and no, it's not in the properties... Ogg Splitter does appear, but no decoder.

I'm getting to testing other players out right now.

Can't change in WMP.

Ok, I've tested it in other players and it doesn't work. Then I thought to open it in Graphedit to see if the filters were connecting correctly. When I opened the ogm file in Graphedit, I realized there were no filters attached to the audio portion of the Ogg Splitter. That would certainly explain the missing sound. What exactly is supposed to be attached there? I tried to put in Vorbis decoder, but there was an error stating that the two were incompatible.

Can someone do me a favor and open an ogm in Graphedit? I'd like to find out what is attached to the audio portion of the Ogg Splitter.

Do you have the MediaXW filters installed as well? If so that could be at least part of the problem.

How do you create the .ogg (oggmachine?) what settings...

Yes, I used OggMachine. Most of the settings were at default. Delay set to 4 msecs and quality at .410 were the only things I changed.

If I try to play the ogg file, it also fails. So I opened the ogg file in Graphedit and the filters appeared to connect correctly. Ogg Splitter connects to Vorbis Decoder perfectly fine, so I'm not sure why it didn't before. However, playback in Graphedit didn't work. How strange...

I think I may have it working and I know what the problem is: TFM Audio Filter. Rats, I liked that filter. I guess I'll have to choose between .ogm and TFM...

I only had one audio stream when I had this problem.
