4 versions of XVid?

Am I led to believe there are 3 competing builds of XVid? Nic, Umaniac & Koepi's? Plus CVS?

All of ours are very very similar. They are all based on the CVS & changed only slightly (I think Koepi's & uManiac's versions are probably pretty much the same right now)

Im keeping my old build up just for a little while, incase people need it...we don't compete, just offer different alternatives. :)

Those builds are indeed different.
I only offer builds which have something unusual added.
Latest build for example has EPZS and EPZS^2 enabled, substituting PMVfast for motion search precision >3.
uManiac's builds are from the CVS and get updated automatically if changes occur in the XviD CVS.
So you can choose to have a plain CVS compile at his site (the insta-build version) or his EPZS enabled build (no EPZS^2 though).
Nic has special builds as well.

So you have the choice to grab the version that suites most of your likings.

Thats what I am worried about & I'm sure the rest of us, or does DSFilter when displayed keep us as such? I maybe mistaken, just wanting to be clear, and like I said the rest of us. As long as we dont have 100 versions of decoders? right That means locking no post pre processing agreed? Do it all on the Encode right people?

Compatibility works fine, the builds all produce kind of the "same" output, the may differ a bit in size, quantizer allocation and so on but none of the builds produces results that can't be played with one of the other builds,... (it's all Xvid)

it's normal to have lots of builds,
as long as they are compatible it's ok!

Btw, how about the DS filter ?
I've noticed that the uManiac's and Koepi's use different DS filter
in their package.

uManiac uses the DSF from the CVS and Nic uses his own one.
Koepi used to pack his binaries with Nic's DSF, but I don't know if that has changed cause I haven't done any encodings the last 3-4 weeks.

afaik Nic's is gonna be inserted in the CVS soon.

In fact, my post-processing will be in the Core... (!) :)
& just controlled by the DSF....

Normally if those modifications turn out to be good they are inserted in the CVS. think of Koepi's matrix-modulation and Nic's DSF just to give 2 examples
