Hello!

I love making backups of dvds but the process requires 5GB+ of HD space and I hardly ever have that much room free.

I tried FLASKMPEG's plugin to rip + encode in one step straight from DVD to DIVX but it often hangs.

What else can I try??? THX!

PS: I have a 800 MHZ AMD Duron pc with a NEC DVD drive.

Well you could do Gknot, but skip the SmartRipper/vStrip bit and go straight into DVD2AVI and read of the DVD but that is *highly* no recommended.

Buy a new hard drive, that's the only good solution. You can afford it. Other than that, you can get a Flask version that supports reading off the DVD. But it's slow, unreliable, not-so-great quality, and most importantly it slowly kills your DVD drive.
