Audio sync way off

First of all let me thank you all for this great forum and D2S for all of his efforts in providing us with this powerful tool. Even though I've lurked for about a year I've always been able to find a solution to a problem in the forum or bang my head until I eventually work it out but this time I'm stumped. I've tried everything suggested and still the audio precede the video by almost 40 seconds!

I've succesfully ripped over 50 dvds and this is the only dvd I've had this problem with.

One more thing, after numerous tries with no success I updated to build 4 and tested on a single chapter. The sync was perfect! Not so for the entire movie. Should I try the first chapter and see if the problem lies there?

Checking a single chapter often proofs to be useless as the error will go away.
Check to see if the first chapter has a 0 value and if it does uncheck it and rip the DVD again. This is proving to be rather common lately.

Yeah, I checked that, believe me I read every possible scenario that's been posted and the only thing that even remotely resembles this problem is "The Usual Suspects" sync problem. In fact it's identical. I delayed the audio in bbmpeg and remuxed it a few times until it was close enough to keep but I was hoping for a better fix (lost about 20 seconds of audio in the beginning of cd2).

If the audio track has been extracted in it's totality why are those missing seconds so apparent? Is there no way to recover them?

I'm glad it's not something I did. I hope that this doesn't become the norm otherwise D2S will have to come up with an automated audio delay feature!!

Try ripping in smartripper, it fixed the problem for me. As a general practice I seem to change rippers when I have a problem and usually find myself using that ripper until I get a different problem. I end up rotating my rippers slowly it seems that there are just some movies that don't work well with some rippers.

I had a 2min plus delay with the PAL version of 'The Mummy' (had no 0 length chapter) and neither the internal routines nor vstrip would work. Smartripper worked perfectly - I dumped smartripper a few months earlier due to a different problem I had with it.
