what exactly does the anti shit option do in gordian knot?
when should it be used?

It activates the anti-shit option in Nandub. Anti-shit checks for "gross codec errors" - luma-inverted blocks - and reenconde them as keyframes if needed. But this options only works in RGB and might be dangerous if used unwisely. That's why you get a big warning when activating it in GK.
