Sorry if this sounds dumb but I can't seem to be able to use Lame in Xmpeg.
I've got the lame.dll in the xmpeg directory but that doesn't seem to be enough.
I've installed the Lame ACM codec (from the CodecsACM14_Fr.exe package) but it won't let me start the conversion, "file in use, etc...", works fine with the Radium mp3 codec though...

Xmpeg and Flaskmpeg both have a problem if u have more than one mp3 codec installed (and activated), so if u want to use them just keep one mp3 codec in the system.

Ps.: lame AMC should work fine.

I'm using Xmpeg more and more, and always with the Lame ACM codec. It's working really fine. And I have more than one MP3 codec installed. (the Lame ones is the one that include ABR in the format name).
You can find "official" builds of the LAME ACM codec on http://mitiok.free.fr/

He,he for me more than one mp3 codec in the systema lso seems to work but I met a lot of people where Xmpeg&Flaskmpeg both didn't want to work correctly if more than one mp3 Codec was installed. :)

You have to check the priority between the codecs.
I suggest LAME as higher than the default one.
The default one will be used to play MP3 (as the LAME ACM doesn't contain a decoding engine yet).

How do I change that priority ?

You go in the audio codec configuration page of Windows (Control Panel..etc) and you have the list of codecs, then you can assign numbers, the smaller one being the most important (used first).
On W2K you can use both at the same time anyway.
BTW, check this newer build of the codec :
http://mukoli.free.fr/acm/lameACM.v0.9.0.zip
It uses ABR too now :)
