Ok so Im trying to learn how to do this properly
The Iron monkey was 5gigs+ just for the movie, So I stripped out the extra audio/subtitle tracks, and then the end credits from the last file (vobedit, demux'd, replaced file with a 100k blank vob and remux'd)
Well this still didnt get the quality down so from then on I transcoded files 2-5(5 total so the movie)And I leave file 1 as it was. This reduced file 2-5 down to 917mb chunks instead of 1gb chucks, I proceeded to clean up the ifos(tried making ifoedit skip the fbi logo and such but for some reason it keeps them in even tho I unchecked all in VIDEO_TS.vob

Anyways I burn it and test. Now it plays normally(I kept all files cept for the extras(2 files, 2_1.vob 3_1.vob) I left them in just because i wasent tired and didnt want to learn how to make a menuless dvd yet(been reading a long time)

neways when it hits the second vob theres a bunch of green blotches on the screen for one frame, they go away and it continues playing, but half way through THAT vob something odd happens. The screen stutters and jumps ahead an entire scene, push the scene back button and you catch up what you missed completely but it refuses to play it normally. Later on in the same vob it just freezes. Completly still cant fast forward or do a scene change, I can reload the movie and skip past the freeze but it ends up doing this on every vob at random points

Wondering what might I have done wrong, after all the transcoding(i did each file seperately and just let ifoedit fix the ifos/vobs on them)

Plays fine on the computer but not on any dvd player here.
Looks like I might have to retrans the entire movie a diff way and burn it menuless

Also what would be the best method of reducing a movie via transcoding

Should I rip, remove audio/subs/ merge vobs(or create a cffl for rempeg) and transcode that one big vob. or should I continue working with multiple files. I really dont care playability on setup is most important and all my computers are NTFS parts so I can handle large file sizes.

All the movies I want to do have crappy extras so I just want menuless movies

also does the 1gb chunk really matter, is it alright to have it smaller or multiple sizes?, what about multiple bitrate for the vobs, like one half one bitrate and the other lower

Your dvd player isnt compatable with either the way u burned it (nero has horrid compatability issues), or the media you used. But its probably from the way you burned it. Use primodvd to burn a disc image if you can.. it works much better than any ive tried. Nero worked horribly (tested one about 6 dvd players).

Nefarion is spot on
Nero has issues with playback, I tried months ago, and gave it up as lost cause,
get prassi, and some decent Discs

I just tried Princo, and 3 out of the first 4 went in the bin.

datasafe are cheap, and I seem to have a really good success rate with them.

my dvd player is fine its the method I use
IM using a dvd+rw so im not wasting discs. just time :)

Will try something other than nero tho
Media is Memorex and HP +RW which both work fine with all the movies i recorded that were sub 4gb(mostly anime)
