I tried doing the video in vdub and then muxing it with ac3 audio in nandub but it went bad. The video without sound (before muxing) played fine, but after I mux it with ac3 in nandub, it plays too fast and is constantly skipping. I had the same problem with DivX4/AC3 or DivX4/VBR MP3 in nandub. What's up with that?

What you see is usually a problem with interleaving settings. What settings did you use for Nandub to interleave the audio?

For some recommended interleaving settings read the FAQ in the Audio forum.

You should also make sure that you're using Directsound to playback the audio, as wave-out has problems sometimes (check this during playback, in the player's options).

Ok...I've looked at the audio section on the website and I've muxed it again interleaving every 96ms. I also reinstalled WinDVD and am using the Intervideo decoder and the DirectSound output. The audio plays fine but now the video plays way too slow. I turned the quality all the way down but it makes no difference.

btw: I'm running a P3 450 @ 504 w/ 256MB RAM and a TNT2 card.

it's surely not a problem of the cpu, because I have a duron 1300 and the same problem.

With an interleave of 1 or 2 : bad sound
64 or 96: bad movie

I use avimux v4.0 instead of nandub (I donīt know why but I love it) and I use for preload (in avimux called "preroll") 500 ms and for interleave something between 20 and 10 ms (!!! not frames !!!)...with this settings it works fine :o)

How big is your AVI file (movie)? If it is more then 2 GB try cutting it. It should work fine.

It's no where near 2GB and I am using NTFS 5.0 so it makes no difference anyway.

Are you using DirectSound for audio playback? Wave-out has been known to give stuttering sometimes.

I think I use wave-out but donīt no exactly. Where can I find it out?
It could be also DirectSound because i think I have tried out different configurations and it makes no difference at my computer.
I have a Soundblaster 5.1 and use the Digital I/O on the back of the card.

You can see what you use usually by right-clicking in the player. Try to search for audio options or file properties there.

ok...I use wave-out!
I tried to switch to direct sound for testing with the help of a registry entry (from doom9) but it doesnīt work...so I canīt say you at the moment how it works with direct sound...but I know that it worked, I have tested it long long ago.
Do you know how to switch to direct sound?

I usually use PowerDivX to change between Wave-Out and DirectSound, but I don't know if the public version (3.11?) supports this.

I have just changed from Win98SE to Win2k, and am not really familiar enough with it to think of any other way.

I think you can just change audio output in most players though. Try WMP, BSplayer, PowerDivX etc (should be in the player's menu usually).
