Which player(s) do you use for DivX / AVI / OGM ???

I prefer zoom player. After using wmp6.4 for sooo long...and then i started to have troubles installing it on win2k, so i decided to try and find an alternative. I didnt want to change, so i tried to find a 'nice' replacement (in other words something that looked liked it), but i couldnt find one. After trying heaps of players, i saw zoom player. At first i didnt really like it, as it was heaps different, but after figuring very basic things i realised that it was really good. It has heaps of features...not that i really use any of them, but there are some days were i look to play with it :)

I find the results surprising. I've tried wmp 6.4, 7&8, powerdivx, zoomplayer, bsplayer, playa, radlight, and, I think, gdivx - so at least I know what I'm NOT voting for =)

The 2 I recommend the most are zoom player and powerdivx. Bsplayer is good too, 3rd on my list, but I thought it would be a lot more even with powerdivx on the poll (they are somewhat similar too),
and I certainly didn't think it would top zoom player.

All the windows media players come short IMO, and radlight is stylish but I didn't like it. Gdivx I think I've tried, but can't remember it, so that probably means it wasn't very good.. ;) Playa

Also tried microdvd player, and various linux players, which I didn't like.

Maybe I should go try sasami, and I'll have pretty much the whole list covered.:D

To ChristianHJW: I would like your player better if it was called powerxvid :D Oh well.. I like it a lot though, a good 2nd on my list, and looking forward to the next versions.

Everyone just says 'this one is the best', Maybe these guys should say why. So, what are the advantages and disadvantages of the players.

I voted for WMP6.4. Why? Because unless you run some really outdated version of Windows (W95 or W98 first edition I think) it's already onboard when you install, it works with vobsub, morgan stream switcher and the ogg ds filter (including subs) and requires less maintenance (all the other programs are eventually updated and you feel compelled to update to the latest version of your favorite player).

or quick and dirty: wmp does all I need from a media player so why install something else?

I think it's noteworthy that WMP7 and WMP8 still have no votes :)

The main problem I think this poll has is that not everyone who voted has tested all the players listed. So "the best" player won't necessarily be voted for.

And really, it depends on what you want from the player. Me? I want something fast, simple and small. And looking good is also a bonus. Others may want feature-rich players such as Sasami2k which is pretty good, but I think may be overloaded with gizmos and gadgets. Anyway, "the best" player really depends on the user.

Well, really the question of the poll was 'what player do you use', not 'which is the best player'. In this regard, I think there's really no problem. ;)
