I have recently switch from nandub to XviD. One was the quality and the second was Divx compatibility. I have now explored Ogg vorbis audio and Mux XviD with Ogg which i must say is too cool the size and quality of audio I'm getting. My question is the finial product Divx compatible and will we one day be able to slap this CD into a DVD player?

There are many factors here and many subjects covered. Vorbis is not part of the MPEG4 specs and as such you will not see it with most upcomming MPEG4 enabled hardware. But you will see it on future hardware. That is part of the purpose of the OGG projects over at xiph.org. They are seeking to help users and companies by creating top notch formats and compression schemes all without pattenting or restrictive licensing. So it would be foolish to think that you will not see it in hardware. But the where, when, and how changes day to day. There has already been a bit of Vorbis and OGG hardware created. The majority of it has just not made it to the public market yet. Also may companies are holding off because they percieve Vorbis as still beeing in a very beginning state and prone to change. What they do not seem to realize is that it has been finalized for over a year. And that the last year and a half has been spent tweaking and tuning the software and code. But the specs have been finished for a long time. Once they decide to officially put down the 1.0 flag you should see many overly cautious companies then take up that flag and run with it.

I thank you for the response and thought i might have a few more with crystal balls but all stayed away. The seek in this format is rock hard and the audio is clear and compressed and when they get spdif 5.1 in vorbis format smaller than AC3 it will be a great jump in technology and far reaching from MP3 but i still would like to see ogg video because if it has the class of the ds filter and the audio it should be good.
Will there be an OGG video codec to come or will it always just mux avi files?
When do you see 5.1 SPDIF ogg vorbis coming into the foreground?
