I posted a thread about this problem a few days ago and thought I had it fixed on my test clip http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21829. I went on to encode the whole DVD and the jerkiness is back. I have a NTSC DVD (Perfect Murder) that I ripped with vStrip into 4 vobs. The first and fourth have field top first NO in Bitrate Viewer but the second and third have field top first YES!! DVD2AVI says the DVD is 99%film so I used force film. Then in CCE 2.5 (via avisynth) I encoded field top first YES (plus zig-zag and progressive just like the DVD), ran pulldown on the m2v afterwards to change the frame-rate and the jerkiness is still there, even in the segments that I know to have been originally field top first YES.
Another wierd thing. I remuxed in bbMPEG and split the files at 700Mb to fit on my CDs. They all show field top first YES but the first of 3 files is interlaced and the other two are progressive (in Birate Viewer) - they should all have been progressive. All 3 files have jerky playback.
I would be grateful if anyone can solve this mystery.
