For some time now I am converting stuff to svcd and I'm getting along quite well with it :) But now I'd like to convert my own DV1 footage to hq divx. I've read some docs online, searched the fora, but all I find is hints on how to use exsisting utilities like dvd2svcd or nandub to achieve my goals. Could anyone clue me in on where to find a *good* howto or guide that is focussed towards dv1 to divx conversion? I have managed to export it from Premiere to avi using the divx codec, but the quality is terrible :( How do you guys manage to make such kick-ass-quality divx encodings?!
Pls note that I am a total newbie on divx encoding...
Any help mucho appreciated guys!

I don't have any experience with DV1, but you might gleen the info you need from the "Nicky Pages."

http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/

Look down the left side menu bar of his site to access his many "How-To" articles. They may be a little dated, but you can still get a lot of useful info. He offers PDFs on some topics too. It's a good place to start.

I suppose that there are a lot of other sources for info, I don't keep as up to date as one should. If you haven't been there yet, check out the DivX home page at:

http://www.divx.com/

You never know, you may get the lead that you need there.

You can also find a smattering of info on DVD at:

http://www.vcdhelp.com/

I hope this helps. I'd be interested to know of any better sources if you find them.
