Now this is strange!
I encoded a half a dozen movies on DivX 5, using GuardianKnot for resize & bitrate calculation. Worked fine so far. Yet it happend that I tried to encode the movie named "The Cube" (a brilliant movie, btw.) and the resulting avi after second pass was about 200 MB off from the predicted filesize! The bitrate was 1050 and the movie should have been around 625 MB - i got 427 MB! I made another attempt (first + sencond pass), raising the bitrate to 1250. This time the resulting file was 440 MB, viz only an increase of 13 MB for the whole additional 200 kbps! Geez! What could be wrong with that movie?
Thanks 4 z attention,
