What do you think itīs better?
I ripped a film with both and I think that tmpgenc did the job better. (with the same settings as in doom9 guide described...., but the I-frames set to autosearch in tmpgenc (1.5hours more)and in dvdavi I used 64bit floating point instead of 32mmx)

tmpg is better. However, if you don't use the i frame settings from ifoedit (I'm assuming that you're going to use ifoedit) then you'll have synch issues in the end unless you're extremely lucky.

Ok, I see.
But Iīm ripping in a different way.
First I create a *.m2v-video-file and the ac3-soundtrack.
I open the *.m2v-file with dvd2avi-> make my *.d2v projekt file ->then go and tmpgenc the film with auto-i-frames and demux both streams with maestro together.
Do you think that this will go out of sync???

I must be missing something here. Why not directly import your m2v and ac3 streams directly into maestro? And skip the whole dvd2avi process

He probably needs to shrink the file down.

Sure I must shrink the file.

I knew i was missing something ;), The only thing you are changing is the bitrate... It should defenitly not go out of sync. If (small chance) it does. Use rempeg2. Ive done quite a few films on rempeg2 and only had a problem with 2 (star wars episode 1 and KPAX).

My vote goes to rempeg
I have used version 12a for nearly 3 years, and the quality is very good, but rempeg shades it,

I also think the newer versions of TMPG are not as good as v12a
they are quicker but speed is not an issue with me.
