View Full Version : Questions about the subtitler - HTML tags?

Is it possible yet to set some basic playback properties for subtitles into the .srt file somehow?

I'd like to set font, size and colour to something different than the default, in order to make them fit with the 16:9 letterboxes. Unfortunately, .srt doesn't support this natively, but I heard that Tobias' subtitler supports at least a few HTML tags. Soo my questions are:

1) Is it possible to set these informations in the subtitles somehow?

2) What's the exact syntax of the HTML tags?

3) Is there a full list of supported HTML tags somewhere?

Thanks in advance! :)

Check Here (http://tobias.everwicked.com/subtit.htm) for Tobias' page about the subtitle filter. It seems that Bold, Italic and Underline are supported so far, with more coming in the future.

Also, you can change the font, size and colour in the filter properties when the movie is running (from memory).

On a slightly different note, is it possible to support "special" characters in the filter in future versions? I mean like, for example, the musical note some films use to indicate a song. Only problem is it's not an ASCII character. Might be a bit nasty ...

I dont know about Ogg specs, but MCF specs ( http://mcf.sourceforge.net ) will allow subtitles to be PNG in addition to ASCII .. so it can be everything, notes also ..

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the funny thing about the ogg format is that there is no spec. Tobias' filters are thus not law, though of course this can lead to nasty incompatibility if someone decides to implement it differently.

Personally, I'll take whatever works, and once I see MCF working, I'll switch - if ogg isn't already working. But then, I'm doing this for the pure personal experience of it, so I can afford to change all the time.
