i know this might be a newbie question, but anyway....

what is the proper way to crop and resize a movie?
i use dvd2avi as a frameserver (vfapi) for nandub (i thought croping and resizing is a virtualdub issue, hence the post in this forum).
do i crop in dvd2avi, and then resize in vdub, or do i crop and resize in vdub?
do i first crop, or first resize?
if i crop a movie, do the width and height have to be a multiple of 4 or 8?
i use the smart resizer in nandub, and made my movie 664x412 (664 was the width after cropping, 412 to get the right aspect ratio) and i still got strange artefacts on the left side of the whole movie. one vertical bar (about 8 pixel?) is totally screwed. the rest of the movie is perfect. where does that come from?

hope you can help... (even if this may be newbie stuff, or already been answered (couldn'd find something on this subject, though))

You should read up on some of Doom9's guides (at www.doom9.org) and perhaps try Gordian Knot, as it will help you create proper avisynth scripts.
