In which order should I apply my filters ?

In order ton encode a black and white movie in SBC, I'd like to use the three following Nandub filters :

Resize (to resize t0 560x336 and crop)
Temporal smoother (to remove noise)
Grayscale (I have been told that it gives better results for b&w movies)


Could someone tell me in which order I should use these three filters ?

Personally I always put resize on top, this is a matter of aste when using bicub, and close to a must when using anything but bicubic resize.

Resize is a fairly "destructive" process and putting sharpeners/smoothers before a resize which will altered the image the sharpner/smoother has worked hard to fix up is counterproductive IMO.

Some people will argue this, there are always those that will tell you that their config looks good for them. Me, I'm a slave of these mathematical algorithms and logic so I'll stick to my approach.

However :) Smoothing a resized image is also makes the smoothing stronger/destructive...but your logic does make a sense...Ill have to test.

Also, putting it after the resize will speed up the encode somewhat. :)
