Strange thing with filesize

Just one strange thing that occured to me (no real problem, just imho strange ;) )

I encoded the same anime ep with three diffrent (read release date) builds of XviD:
1. Encoded with subtitles (so actually not REALLY the same). Forgot which Xvid build, somthing like 1703
2. Encoded without subtitles. Build 2003 (or 2303, not really sure anymore), Nics, didnt have alternative curve compression available
3. Encoded without subtitles. Build 2703, Nics, with alternate curve compression

Now the strange thing: All three encodes were EXACTLY (to the byte!) the same size, which was about 25k off the one i entered.

So is this strange or how it is supposed to work?

P.S.: before anyone asks, the content (aka the bytes) are different if you check with file compare

If you did 2 pass encoding, then it should be the same size. It's funny that the oversize/undersize is the same all the time, but this can happen.
Of course the content is different since the curve scaling algorithms work differently between the builds.

Thanks for the reply. The info about the different content was just to assure everybody that actually different codecs were used and there was wasn't some other bug (on my system) that led to all flies being the same.

I'm still curious if something like this happened to someone else :)

EDIT: corrected some typos that were painful to look at ;)

yes, it happened to me as well. alt. curve compression is what I will use all the time from now on.
