something weird happened today.
first off i went to mux an xvid with an ogg in oggmux.
the resulting file was only slightly larger then the orginal avi file and played with no sound.
then i tried the ogg file on its own and it was also silent(in windows media player).
then i tried playing some films I had encoded previously and they are also now silent (in windows media player).
I tried playing the ogg file in sasami and it plays fine.
also the film plays with audio, but is upside down :)
So why has Windows media player suddenly decided to stop playing .ogg files.
i have the latest ogg ds filters.
thanks
Zuma
update:
i can multiplex the avi and ogg file in graphedit, but it still plays silently in windows media player

Have a look at the OggMux 0.7.2 thread, you probably forgot to press the 'Add' Button. ;)

Thats a problem/bug/incompatibility of sasami with the XviD DSF. Just check 'flip video in the DSF options. (but you probably guessed as much ;) )

This sounds strange. What happens when you render the ogm in Graphedit?
EDIT: Or did you upgrade OggDS, then have a look at this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=21663).

thanks Belgabor.
i think you covered everything. I reckon i have the same problem as lots of others with the ogg playback and you covered the other points too, thanks

So what is the solution?
Is it to use the older version of oggDS?
Edit: Where can I get this older *.7 version of oggDS

I have almost all the old versions. But I missed 7.

I'm pretty sure I have it. Drop me a pm with your mail and i'll send it.
Be patient till next week though, 'cause I'm going home for Easter (I wont have the cd available there).

Before more people ask for it, let me just upload it here. It's only 200kb so I don't think it would harm anyone.

I think I found the source of the SILENT problem.
I only get silent ogg vorbis audio when I encode a wave into ogg audio.
When I encode and AC3 with either Migraine or oggmachine I do not experience this silent ogg sound problem.
BTW, I am still using the latest oggDS.

I used oggmachine to encode the ogg audio and i get silent ogg playback with the latest ogg filters.

Did you encode a WAVE to ogg vorbis audio
OR
did you encode an AC3 into ogg vorbis audio
The former gave me silent playback, while the latter assured me that i wasn't death. I was using the latest oggDS.
