I have downloaded a number or smr nAVI encoded movies. These are all of a high quaility. However I wish to play them on my Warfedale M5 DVD player.
When converting these films with DVD2SVCD (1.0.7 Build 4) there is a problem with audio sync. The audio lags the video by a substantial amount.
I think this is due to the unusual frame rate nAVI uses(20fps).
When the movie file is selected DVD2SVCD notes that the frame rate is incorrect and alters it, however the rate of the audio is not changed to coincide with this.
I am in the UK so I have tried to encode converting from NTSC to Pal and also without. In both cases the result is the same. Great quality smooth video with a sound track that is seriously lagging after :(
All my other DVD rips and Divx to SVCD work fine.
Can any one shed some light on this problem.
Many Thanks.

Here is my log file,

The original video framerate of 20.000 is not supported. The framerate will be adjusted!

It seems that this nAVI format is just divx with a non standard fps.
To play these files in Windows (I use XP Pro) you must download a patch from shadowrealms website or newsgroup.
Once that is done the movies may be played in any avi compatable player, and can be processed by any avi2mpeg1/2 encoder. The avi however needs a video audio framerate conversion. I have used the avi[fr]v1.10 program in conjunction with BeSweet.
Unfortunatly BeSweet does not seem to function with the conversion from 20fps to 25fps.
The audio starts being off by seconds but by the end of the film is following the video by 10 mins or so

I have tried to alter the avi's framerate in vdub, but this results in a loss of audio sync prior to encoding.
Is there another way to alter the framerate of the input avi before using avi2svcd?
As I have said using BeSweet (gui 0.6b35) does not work. Changing from 20fps to 25fps results in a 0.2s encode and then nothing

DVD2AVI was made with typical framerates in mind and is not meant to use anything out of normal TV/Movie spec (23.97, 24, 25, 29.976).

Unless you can alter the framrate you may not be able to convert it.

In VDub when you alter the video frame rate you may also have to stretch and/or alter the audio rate in SoundForge or a simalar program.

Do a search in the SVCD forum about frame rate conversion. There has been some really good discussions on the subject in the past. I am no expert on it myself. I did author a post about converting PAL to NTSC in there and some of this info may be of help to you.
