ok, I'm a bit of a newbie at hooking my PC up to the PC. My PC is a P4 1.6Ghz so I presume its powerful enough. My graphics card is a Nvidia 32 MB Gerforce 2 Mx. Should do. I'm using the svhs socket on the graphics card to carry the video. That cable and the sound ones connect into a scart socket on the TV. I can hear the sound but have no picture !! Any ideas whats wrong. Anyone have a similar card? The S-VHS connection on the PC is finicky but it seems to be in right. Do I need a special program to use the TV out. I thought the screen should just come up on both. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you need to switch on the s-video option on the TV.
I have a Sony, and I have to go through the menu to video setup, then to S-Video and manually turn it on when I want to watch my dvd's.
Try this.

thanks guys, tvtool worked a treat.
One thing, I can only get a black and white picture. I'm in a PAL country. Off now to search for that answer, thanks for the help !!

It's propably because you TV can't do S-video even though you've got a cable that fits. (S-video has the 'picture' and the 'color' in two separate lines). Some TV's got 2 scart-connections where one of them can do S so you could try to switch.
(I think the above is true but pls. correct me if I'm wrong)

@Swede you're right. When I change it, the tvtool colourbars are in colour. Yet when I go to TV mode, I only get a black and white picture !!
A bigger problem though is now the TV. After putting the arial back in, all the channels show up but no sound !! I have no satellite or anything just an arial. The weird thing is if I play the channels on the video channel (anologue connection from video to TV) I get sound !!
Another thing since I live in Ireland, I receive channels on VHF and UHF bands. When I've the video switched off, only UHF channels are picked up (without sound). The older VHF band is picked up by the video only.
Any help on the sound issue would be MUCH appreciated.

I can now get colour on the tv !! The only problem is that tvtool is very unstable for me. I'm using the graphics card way instead. It doesn't crash but it also doesn't fill up the whole tv screen like tvtool did.
As for the tv itself, have got all UHF channels back working. The vhf band has disappeared. The only way to see them is on the video channel. Anyone have any ideas?

Like you I struggled for a long time in getting a decent tv image from my tvout...never got anywhere.
Have a look at Trust Televiewer 1600, its a VGA to rgb converter with brightness, size, position, flicker all without any need for drivers.
www.trust.com/computer -> check under video products.
Take care.

If you know of a similar product for us NTSC people let me know, I cant really complain though, my tv-out suits me pretty good. Picture is atleast as good as any dvd player i've tried and Tvtool is pretty stable on my computer.
