Tonight i attempted to convert a divx to vcd. video portion went without a problem. Then i loaded besweet to convert the audio to mp2 (the audio being a wav file)

well. i set 224 kbps as the bitrate and what happens? it says 224 kpbs is not a valid format.. i said 'wha?' so after some searching on the forums.. well.. i didnt find anything... so i mulled over it for a while.. finally thinking to check the origional sample rate and voila.. was 22 khz.. which understandably isnt worthy of 224 kpbs... so i say.. set ssrc flags.. .. well.. i run besweet and crash :(.. if there is another post about this i apologize.. i spent about an hour searching.

here is command line

"C:\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "c:\ep601.wav" -output "c:\ep601.mp2" ) -ssrc( --rate 44100 ) -2lame( -m s -b 224 -e )

crashes immediately

works fine 48 - > 22

so i used the SSRC tab - did wav(22khz) to wav(44khz) and then converted the 44khz wav to mp2... so the job got done.. but wondering if its just me or not

this is on a 950 mhz duron win2k / besweet 1.2 .. it is overclocked to 1000 but ive never had the problem downconverting using the ssrc.dll from 48 to 44. 100% attempts from 22 to 44 result in crash (not the bsod kind but just 'besweet.exe has generated errors...' kind) it closes and im free to try again

my cce never has crashed (just as a refence to stability)

you're right, only downconverting is currently supported by ssrc.dll.

thanx for confirming that.

You may talk to Naoki Shibata ( shibatch ) personally about this, shouldnt be to hard to do for him. He is visiting on IRC from time to time in his evening ... check openprojects server, channels are #project_mayhem and sometimes #mcf now...

I will try to ask him ( if i dont forget ) next time i talk to him ..

If I am not mistaken, upsampling is supported by SSRC, but the dll interface doesn't have it.

darkavenger - yup.. thats what i did.. ssrc wav22khz to wav44khz first.. then besweet to 224 kbps .mp2

but if the dll did it would be one step... i would guess processing time would be the same (as doing it in 2 steps) but disk writing time is reduced.

quality would be better, duration would be shorter. etc'..

but, what can you do, i'm only one person, and i don't have all the time in the world, so i haven't found the time to implement the upsampling into ssrc.dll, only downsampling.

sorry.
