missing chapters after joining 2 DVD's using VOBedit and ifoedit

trying to get lawrence of arabia on one DVD5...

I followed darrow's good guide on his site for joining 2 DVD's...

after I joined, i got a resultng 9 VOB's. Too big, time to ReMPEG2. I did down to 52%, all seems pretty good (one are of bad encoding though)

the only thing that sucks is that I no longer have chapters on the second DVD vob's! Is there any way to join AND maintain *all* the chapters?

I think the problem is that once VOBeditor is done renaming all the vobs, the nav packets are wrong. The nav packs are pointing to the original vob id....

and I renamed the VOBs a new ID....

so, that leaves me to ask (darrow), how do I re-edit every chapter to understand that the VOB's have a new ID?

Just so it is known....

DVD1 had ID=1 and DVD2 also had VOB ID=1. I renamed DVD2 to VOB ID=2

Huh yes, that's right.
I totaly forgot about the chapters problem.

I need to enhance IfoEdit first. But I don't know exactly what would be the best method, to keep the chapters from both DVDs.

I'll try to do something about it asap!
Just give me one more week.

Until then you can burn it to DVD-RW, and keep the original IFO files.

just wondering though, can you go into each nav pack (assuming that is where the info is) and manually change the info? Using VOBedit?

No, the chapters points are only defined in the IFO file.

I am hoping for a solution to this issue which has occured with me on Training Day. I split it to two DVDR's successfully but now the chapters are kinda screwed up, they run logically thoug. The original contains 28 chapters, after splitting there are 14 on each disc. If I select a achapter above 14 the player freezes or sometimes I can escape back to the menu. if I load disc 2 and select a chapter above 14, same thing. If I load Disc 2 and select any chapter below 14, it loads but on disc 2 chapter 2 isn't really that chaper, it would be chapter 16. Is it possible to edit the chapter point so that if I load disc 2 and select any of the chapters above 14 that it would load the correct chapter?

Also, it would be great if I could create a screen or message that when a chapter isn't on the loaded disc that it states that it isnt there or is on the other disc. Is is possible in anyway, if so how hard is it?
