Is there any way to get virtual dub to recognize Lame encoded CBR mp3 files when opening an avi file in VirtualDub?

I always get this error saying that it's an invalid VBR file and that in order to properly use the file, the audio track must first be saved as a wav and then re processed into a valid format.

Multiplexing/compressing audio in VirtualDub mp3 takes forever. I'd rather just Lame encode it, then use Nandub to mux the audio and video together.

Avery Lee wrote a piece about VBR in Virutaldub (http://www186.pair.com/vdub/virtualdub_news_old.html) and even though you've got a CBR-mp3 Nandub kind of 'cheats' in how it mixes.
But you'll only get this message when you open the already complete avi in vDub, right? Why would you want to do that?
