Timed video capture

Hi,

i know of a few video capture programs which can be timed, but none of 'm work very easily, does anybody know of a (small) program that :

1) inits my tv-tuner (hauppauge wintv)
can start capture at a certain time, and stop after a specified time

2) uses standerd windows codecs, so mjpeg output is possible.

3) maybe even boots the computer (which can be timed by bios
) ?

yes. there's a modified build of virtualdub (1.4.7 and 1.4.9) called virtualdub_vcr that has timer support, and even tuner support such that each timer event will use different channel (although i never tried the tuner support).

i've been using the 1.4.7_vcr version for some time now and i'm very pleased with it. downloaded 1.4.9 just today, so didn't have the time to encounter bugs. i assume it's better than 1.4.7 though.

unless u find a "small" program that works exactly as u expect, i suggest u try the more advanced and very popular free "virtualdub". (the original home page is www.virtualdub.org). it has many professional features. imho, it's worth learning how to use it.

VIRTUALDUB RULES! And the VCR version is very spiffy as well. I use it at least once a day and 4 times on the weekend! :D

There is a external capture starter for VD if you don't like to use the modification... Check the FAQ to find it.

thanks for the help. somehow virtualdub refuses to work correctly with my tuner. (channels above 99 are not possible with the virtualVCR mod).

if anyone else has the same questions as me above :

if you have a Vfw driver, AVI_IO seems the only reliable program for timed capture including tuner support.

I use it now, and it works fine.
