In Maestro, I am selecting the menu and right clicking and selecting properties. This brings up the disabled user action window. I disable the root(dvd) menu call button, but after I compile and burn to dvd, the user is still able to press the menu button on the remote and bring up the previous movie that was playing. I dont want this b/c its the previous movie transition to that menu (previous thread here

So why isnt the disabled user action working in this case?

Thanks

I d/o believe you can do this in Maestro, which d/o allow you to designate individual menu as Title, Root, Chapter, Subpicture, Audio, PTT menu etc.... Scenarist does allow you to (d/o know about other authoring apps). On playback, a DVD player remembers these tags and thus even when you are in Chapter menu, pressing "Menu" key will bring you to the Root.

A simple way out is to put a "Menu" button on whatever menu you're creating and connect it accordingly.

(I prefer on-screen navigation over remote b/c the key labels on remote controls are very confusing. Manufacturers d/o seem to agree on common terms, ie, early Pioneer players label "Title" key as "Info". Some d/o have the "Title" key. Go figure !)

You are right. I will just stick to the on screen navigation.

By any chance are you playing the burned DVD on a player with hacked firmware? There are hacks you can get for some DVD players that will ignore user disabled operations that are encoded on the disc to enable you do such things as skip past the FBI copyright warning, movie intros, ect...
