I've tried it with indeo 5.11 and it worked fine, but I get an error that says corrupted avi data when I use xvid.
There is a very good possibility I'm going something wrong, though I have proven (to myself anyway) that it's not virtualdub causing the problem.
ps. Xvid is great. I don't get the "moving wall" syndrome anymore. Block noise has disappeared and my girlfriend has sex with me now. ( I don't know if the last part is related to XVID but why question a good thing?).
NNnn had the best program available in Nandub, proving it's not what you have but how you use it. He certainly showed the true potential of the DIVX3.11 codec. However, evolution waits for no one. I feel Xvid is the next step up.
