View Full Version : Why "fast recompress" and not "full processing"?

Hello,
try to do some Rip-Jobs with Virtual Dub. Read Dooms guides and have a single question now.

Why we should use "fast recompress" when load a avs-file in? Shouldn't be "full processing"? Or is it preprocessed by avi-synth?

Don't want to get on your nervs... :)

I believe there's plenty of posts discussing that very topic around here. Search if you want more detailed info than the following:

The short version:
1) Fast Recompress is faster
2) Fast Recompress doesn't unneccesarily convert between RGB<>YUV colorspace, and thus leaves the input more like the original. It also causes reason 1).

yes that is true, but if you do want to use ANY filters in vdub you will have to set it to full processing mode
