DT98 here again,

I searched but did not find the answer to this question: If I want to keep a ripped movie, I assume all that I need to do is to save each respective .bin and .cue file in a separate directory and when I want another copy, just burn those files to disc. Correct?

Next, thank everyone for the help here so far. (Just call me "grasshopper")

I had problems with CCE locking and finally blew everything away and reloaded. So far I've done three rips with no problems.

Next, I learned to verify sync problems with more than one program. STHSVCD always had delayed audio. I just started using PowerDVD XP and the same discs play fine.

Thanks again,
DT98

Yes and no. You can save the BIN/CUE files to have multiple movies done before you burn them, but with a caveat. Inside the CUE file, it references the BIN file directly. It contains a full path and the filename of the BIN file. If you rename the BIN or move it, you will need to edit the CUE file before you can burn the image. Its simple to do, the CUE file is just a tiny text file. You can just delete the path information (that will make your cd burning program default to the same directory as where the CUE file is located) and change the filename and you shouldn't have any problems at all.

otakycode's advice is usefull only for older versions of dvd2svcd. Using version 1.0.7, all you need to do is to have both cue and bin files in the same folder.

Thank you Mozart and Otakucode!

I'm moving the .bin and .cue file of movies I want to keep to another directory... at least until my hd fills up.

The movie, A Knight's Tale, worked great and plays super on the computer using PowerDVD and in my stand alone Sampo machine.

Thank you again for the replies.

I also like to keep my .bin and .cue files to be able to burn more copies of the movies I copy with DVD2SVC but I do it in such a way as to keep my hard drives clear. I'll post a brief description and if anyone wants I can provide one with more details later.

1. Using WinRar I combine all files for a given movie and then spilt them into 10 Meg pieces adding a recovery record just in case something goes wrong somewhere. This allows me to burn these 10 Meg pieces to a CDR and keep them from cluttering up my hard drives.

2. Using SmartPar I make a few PAR files for each movie. These PAR files enable me to recreate any RAR files that may for any reason become unreadable or any that I may accidentally forget to burn to CD. It's easier than you think to forget one or two in a late night burning session.

3. Using QuickSFV I create an .sfv file for all the RARs and PARs. This file allows me to quickly check the integrity of all the RARs and PARs when I want to pull them back off the CD and burn a new copy of the movie.

This is NOT an original idea. I simply use the same procedure one would use to post a movie to usenet. It made sense to me and gives me the ability to make more copies later AND still have room on my hard drives.

I just copied my 100th movie with DVD2SVCD so I do a lot of bargain CDR shopping. :) Circuit City had a computer error... they sold 50 packs of Memorex for $5.00 + tax out the door.... no mail in rebate... no nothing.... hehehe Before they discovered the error I'd bought all 600 they had in stock. :)
