I hope someone can help . i can rip my film to hard drive but it's a good bit bigger than the 4.7 gb , how can i srink the film to fit this disc . i think remeg2 can do this but can i select the whole film ( the video_ts file and reduce.

I hate to be a pain , but im very new to this and i find the guides confusing , i know if shown once i can pick it up but . ts video file can i just use a programme and select this file and it reduces the full file.

OK, as I don't have a DVD burner, I've never actually done this, and so even after thinking about it, I think I can't really help you (since you don't understand the guides properly)....
I think you just should read a few of the great Doom9 guides (http://www.doom9.org/guides.htm) again. If you still don't get it then, read it again.
If you STILL don't know what to do, then post another something here..*EDIT. uhhh, post it in the correct forum:) *EDIT
Keep this in mind:
-Rip content wanted from original DVD (I sugest using Smartripper, it's easy). Removing the DD track and other languages + subs only leaving the ProLogic AC3 track
-If it's under the 4.7 you're in luck.
If it's just over the 4.7 meaby lower the AC3 bitrate.
If it's way over, use ReMpeg as you suggested (I think that should work) or re-encode using CCE or TPMG (CCE being the better choice)

Matrix, you have general problem with the understanding of the files contained on a DVD.
