Can't open any VFAPI.AVi files in CCE 2.50?

I've tried making them through DVD2AVI and tmpgenc, but whenever I load them into CCE 2.50 it says it cant read it and may be corrupt. I'm basically trying to test transcode some vobs in order to see how fast and well it can do it, but even trying it with divx vfapi.avi's (in order to resize) it says the same thing. I would like to try using AVISYNTH, but do not understand how it works at all, I installed the dll for it, but was lost after that. Is there a neccessary codec for using vfapi's in cce? Besides the virtual dub avi handler?

Thanks for the help (lol)...I didnt get it to work, but finally found a small section of the guides that gave an example of an avisynth script...
