Is anyone doing OGG/Vorbis with XviD or DivX video to SVCD conversions? I've successfully converted several movies with TMPGEnc, but I've had a few problems with some versions of the OGG Direct Show filters and was wondering if anyone else has them.

v0.9.8.5 and v0.9.8.6 work well but would sometimes freeze while converting the last few seconds of a file. I could manually kill TMPGEnc and the movie was fine (except that it was missing a few seconds of video and a few bytes of code at then end, but it played fine). I got around this by settings TMPGEnc's Source Range to end a few seconds early.

v0.9.8.7 works except that it seems to have a huge memory leak when converting full length movies. Within about 60 seconds of encoding (or just opening up the Source Range setting and viewing a still frame) my memory useage jumps from 120 MB (this is how much v0.9.8.5 and 6 use) to over 1 GB. This memory leak also happens when I load an AVISynth script into Virtual Dub using DirectShowSouce("File.ogg",23.976).

v0.9.8.8, the first time I tried it I experienced the same memory problems as v0.9.8.7 but every time since then I get an error message from TMGPEnc saying "The error occured when ACM was initialized." Viewing a still frame with Source Range in TMPGenc shows the audio waveform and with this version it is almost a solid bar that looks extrememly clipped. Using v0.9.8.7 or earlier, the waveform looks like what one would except a normal waveform to look like. This version still has the memory leak with AVISynth/Virtual Dub.

v0.9.8.9, I always get the same ACM initialization error in TMPGEnc and solid bar waveform. The memory leak with AVISynth/Virtual Dub seems to be fixed, though.

One thing to note about the memory leak is that I seem to only get it with large files. I have experimented with 20 or so files and the memory leak does not happen when my source Ogg file is only 1-2 minutes in length.

I only have access to Win2k machines, but have experienced these problems on four different setups. I am sticking with v0.9.8.6 for now.

The main copmuter I am using is

Win2k SP2, 1.1 GHz Athlon, 512 MB PC100 Ram
DirectX v8.0
Elsa Gladiac GeForce2 GTS 32 MB
Asus A7v motherboard with bios 1009

I would appreciate hearing from anyone else doing similar conversions.

Thanks
