Are ther any good giudes for converting Divx to DVDR?

I have just tried to convert Oceans Eleven which is at 30fps. I encoded it using TMPGEnc and NTSC DVD template, but it seems choppy when I watch it on my dvd player. Like when it pans accross a shot.

ALso can I just encode the video or do I have to encode the audio at the same time then convert it to wav?

Also what can I use to convert 48K wav to AC3, all guides say about doing it the other way round. Or is it better to have PCM sound track?

Thx

Sonic Foundry's Soft Encoder should allow you to convert a wav to AC3

Thanks for the reply.

Still can't find any solution on the picture being slightly choppy.
Is it just something that cannot be sorted out?
Could it be my player(Pioneer 525)?
I should convert 30fps to ntsc, or should I try Pal (25fps).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if it's "It can't be done".

Thanks

Its got to be 1 of 3 things. 1) your dvd player isnt compatable with what you burned... 2) the burning program you used isnt compatable with your dvd player 3) your media isnt compatable with either the dvd player or your burner

it could also be the field order.

going to try that will let you know how I get on.

Also is there any trick to getting the video and audio (AC3) in sync when using DVDMastro.

It should be in sync ... The only time ive had sync problems is when i try to split the m2v/ac3 into 2 files using smart ripper (to put on 2 dvd's).. The 2nd part always come out waaay out of sync (about 500ms). Another way the audio could be out of sync is if there is an AV delay. If there is such.. smartripper will tell you while you are ripping the dvd... it will also put it in the name of the ac3 file. You can use a program called "ac3 delay corrector" to fix that.

thanks for your reply, but as in the title I'm encoding a Divx not ripping a dvd.

Obviously this depends on the quality of the divx. but say an average size widescreen dvdrip in divx

what is the quality like when converted to dvd and played back on a tv ? I know that you probably wont lose any quality as you are encoding to a higher bitrate, i also realise that you wont gain any quality as the final product can only be as good as the divx

I was just curious if people thought that it was worth the effort in converting it to dvd ?

I think it's worth it.

Right well I changed the field order and it did make any diffrance.

Any other ideas?
