Hi, I have decided to switch from vbr mp3 to ogg, since I can get roughly the same quality for a smaller size (I am a 1CD fanatic). For mp3 I have always downsampled to 32kHz, since it is a very good way to bring down filesizes and when lowpassing at 15.5kHz, there isn't much sound difference. (BTW I never had synch problems (using r3mix setting), only time I had suchproblems was with aps setting).
I tested ogg with 48, 44.1 and 32kHz and at q=0.5~1 which brings down file sizes considerably, only 32kHz exhibits no artifacts (like ringing). My problem is that the directshow filters cannot mux this file with the video, while they mux just fine the other samples. I imagine it is probably a problem with the filters, so I would be grateful if it got fixed.
Thank you for your time.
