ok this is my problem....i have encoded many dvds using dvd2svcd. sometimes this happens other times it doesnt. I just did AI and the whole movie glitches and the video blocks up and audio skips. usually i have this happen just at one part of the movie, but this movie was screwed all the way threw the first disc. the other discs seemed fine. this really pisses me off cause it took a long time to encode. any suggestions what went wrong

OMG....played the bin file with daemon and power dvd....works flawless. must of burned the disk to fast!

Could be, when I burn at max speed my DvD often dont even start the movie. So far, I never got a reject when I burn at 4x

Have you tried different cd-r media?

Since the error correction of the SVCD-format is relatively bad, SVCD is vulnerable to high bler, bad reflectivity and bad calibration on the side of the writer.

Up to now I have converted appx. 10 movies with DVD2SVCD and had no such phenomena.

I use 74-min-Kodak Ultima and 80-min-Philips silver premium 24x which are Taiyo Yuden-made, one of the finer producers of CD-R media, and use a Plextor 1232A which has good powercalibration. Up to now, I could not find any sideeffects of Nero as the writing application, it works just fine for me. Btw: The newer Philips silver premium 32x are Ritek-media which do not compare to the old ones in reliability or compatibility.

The media were tested on my Pioneer 343, my father's Yamakawa 780 (Raite), and some also on a friend's Toshiba 210E. They had no problems with stuttering playback just like me.

how fast exactly are you burning them?


I use RCA 80 minute cds and burn at 10x and never had a bad one.

Just like me. Btw: I have just had the first similar problem:

I made a testburn on a TDK High-speed-RW with 10x, and while my Pioneer plays it just fine, my father's Yamakawa has some issues with it which result in occasional stuttering and bad blocks on the screen which vanish with the next indexframe.

Another proof for my theorie that the whole problem is related to bad media - the TDK-RW was a new kind which I have never befor used.

Btw: It's always helpful to know who manufactured the medium. cdr-identifier is no longer maintained by the author, but Feurio! (audio-burning app) has an included Atip-reader which identifies CD-R and CD-RW media by their manufacturer.

I use the silver black prodiscs 80,im 700mb disc. i use cdrwin to burn them. ive also used blindwrite.
