Playing Xvid movies on the Sega Dreamcast

I play all my Xvid movies on my Dreamcast using the DCDivx player.I download a lot of realplayer movies.So I convert them using TINRA to Xvid and burn them to CD and play them in mt DC.The quality is better than Divx I find.Divx 5 doesn't work on the DDivx player anyway.

Anyway I'm just saying thanks to you all for Xvid and keep up the good work.

It is nice to see XVid being ported to other forms of devices. It would be killer if this could also be done for PS2 and XBox. PS2 now has linux right? And linux has an XVid codec, sooooooo

mplayer is a very nice movie player for linux that will play xvid encoded movies. Next version will also bring support for Xvid encoding :)

It would be great if the PS2 had the horsepower to play back at full tv resolutions.

dcdivx is pretty limited, right?

DCDivx only supports resolutions upto 496 X 496.But as with XviD it is still ongoing and there are still loads of things to be done.There was a new version of it released yesterday.

There is a player for XBox that can play nearly anything (Xbox Media Player it is called) including XviD

There is a PS2 player as well that should be able to play xvid as well as divx3.11, 4, and 5. I believe. http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39316 you have to get a mod chip though just like the one for the Xbox. There is also another ps2 player http://www.broadq.com/ it doesn't require a modchip but it requires that you network your ps2 to your computer.

Xbox Media Player is the greatest piece of software ever. Theres just something cool about having your Xbox stream XviD rips off a network share on your PC and outputting them through a crystal clear RGB SCART cable to your 80cm flat TV.
