Hello everyone.
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to post this (forgive me!) but my machine (celeron800 crappy mb) is not upto playing xvid encoded stuff with the dsfilter. I have been using Avicc to change to divx dsfilter and even thogh there are colour probs i am very happy to put up with them until either the xvid dsfilter is faster or i get a better pc(i am waiting for thoughbred to be released). I prefer to be able to watch slightly sharper mpeg quant. modulated encodes in the future.

But now i have to back up my encodes to cd, and would prefer to store them as 'xvid' fourc codes, but if i want to watch these cds now i have to transfer back to hd to change the fourc back to 'divx'.

I use zoomplayer, is there another player that i can use that i can force to use a specific dsfilter, one which is different to the 'source' fourc code? So i can save to cd as 'xvid' and play back as 'divx' - i heard that the player can do this - is this correct?

Thanks.

I think that should be fine for the DSF, unless you're trying to enable everything. Try enabling only a few of the post-processing settings. Also, change the X and Y threshold to something higher. I use 30,30 for that. I'm running only a PIII 500 and the DSF runs fine with all six post-processing levels activated.

Thanks for your reply.
It doesn't matter what or how many options i have enabled, i can't achieve my target framerate of 25fps, usually get 21-23fps, it is perfect with the 'divx' dsfilter. It could well be the way i have configured my system, the mobo is a very low spec thing, had dificulty getting dma on anything (works now).
All this will be sorted for me in a couple of months time, but i still need to backup to cd and would like to do it with fourc 'xvid' and play as 'divx', in the meantime.
Thanks again.
